Q1. Tell us little about NSOFT?

NSOFT (India) Services Pvt Ltd was established in 1996 and has grown as leading service provider in Revenue management and smart metering Utilities. Our domain expertise and experience in utility operations and distribution has helped us bring to the market cutting edge products in areas of utility automation, billing and collections, smart meters and energy management systems. We are ISO certified and currently handle more than 12 million consumers across 8 power utilities in India and Africa.

Q2. Can you brief us on the landmark projects executed by the company and the products involved within project enabling to perform job seamlessly?

Some of the landmark projects are Total Revenue Management (TRM) implemented in Karnataka (BESCOM, HESCOM, GESCOM), West Bengal (WBSEDCL), UP, Gujarat, Bihar. These projects cover Revenue management, which is automation of billing and collection and MIS processes, as well as Complaint Management. The projects have helped bring visibility into billing and collection in utilities, helping them reduce losses and reduce cost of operations through automation.

Q3. What are the main challenges that you see in the Smart Energy Sector? How are you working on overcoming these challenges?

The building block for a smart energy sector or smart grid is a robust metering, billing and collection system. Unless there is visibility in the last mile and losses are plugged, the energy sector will be unable to recoup losses and investments in power will be hard to come by. Once technology such as AMI is used to reduce losses in the last mile, utilities can become profitable and power costs could come down, since honest payers no longer have to pay for stolen power. The high cost of smart metering technology from foreign players has been a major constraint until now. NSOFT has come up with a “made in India” disruptive solution that is proven on the field, and allows utilities to achieve a quick payback and makes AMI implementation feasible. NSOFT has also undertaken to implement AMI on a BOT basis so that utilities can payback on a rental model using the revenue gains they achieve on implementing AMI.

Q4. Looking at the Energy management System, what do you expect will change in the future and what technologies will drive this change?

Energy management systems will be driven by need for reduction of energy costs in production, as well as the need to  be seen as a green brand. Industry and commercial establishments will find energy conservation and sustainability very useful to drive down energy costs, and gain visibility into consumption patterns. Improved data collection and analytical abilities and use of IOT to gather and make use or electrical parameters in unrelated areas such as equipment maintenance will help them chart the path to energy auditing and green branding.

Q5. What would be the next level/future plan for NSOFT India in terms of expansion, distribution, improvisation, technological up-gradations etc?

Our goal is to establish ourselves as a leading AMI solution player by implementing the latest technologies at a lower cost which will be best suited for all the power utilities. We are also looking at tying up with major meter manufacturers to expand our businesses in all across the world.
